Teaching
“A garden of growth can be cultivated only by generously offering children fulfilling relationships to tether themselves to . . . It is in our gardens that [young people] must feel free to express what is within their hearts without fear of repercussion to our relationship, and where the person they become slowly takes shape, free of pressure and the need for performance . . . when we take care of children’s relational needs and ensure that their hearts are soft, nature will take care of the rest.”

My relational developmental approach to teaching is grounded in collaborative play and responsive, developmentally-appropriate feedback that engenders emotional safety. I celebrate exploration and self-discovery, and I also set clear limits that I compassionately assist children in respecting. Young people are a joy, and I consider it my responsibility and privilege to understand those in my care and to create the conditions for them to flourish, both as individuals and in community with others.

I have experience directing an arts summer camp for 4-10 year-old; leading in-school residency activities and designing age-appropriate curricula in theater arts for middle school and early high school students; tutoring Individualized Education Program students in elementary, middle, and high school; teaching clown and beginning trapeze to 6-14 year-olds; and directing youth theater.

In January 2026, I will begin a master’s degree program that will lead to a Master of Science in Education (MSEd) and New York State teaching certificate. My focus will be Early Childhood Education (Birth - Grade 2).
As part of my self-designed undergraduate major at Pitzer College, I completed academic work in early childhood social and emotional development, and as a graduate student at NYU I worked as a teaching assistant.
